Creating environments can be a daunting and a time-consuming task for any team. Simulations may require geo-specific terrain derived from satellite and topographical data. Games may require a fantastical creation or making a designer’s concept become reality. Terrain mesh creation can be done in a myriad of ways; with the game engine’s tools, plug-ins, procedurally or through 3rd party software. Lighting models can make or break an environment aesthetically or shutter performance. Understanding how 3D assets need to be created and deployed is critical to performance and consistency of the experience. I have a keen understanding of terrain generation, lighting models, foliage systems and creating environments from concept to deployment whether for simulation or game.
